Spring is here and I've recently noticed some poppies blossoming everywhere.I love poppies and I decided to create some stylish earrings, inspired by nature. This technique can be applied to create any flower, since it's so versatile and easy to manipulate.

Here is what you will need:

Hot glue sticks

Hot glue gun

Parchment paper

Pliers

Jump rings

Earring hooks

Acrylic paint

Brushes

Scissors

A needle

Gather all of your supplies and let's get started!

Create the Base

Take your parchment paper and cut a piece large enough for you to use to put hot glue on.

Grab your hot glue gun and load it with some sticks. It doesn't really matter the kind of sticks you are going to use - I just happened to have these glitter hot glue sticks laying around,so I used those.Create a rectangular shape. One thing to keep in mind is that hot glue dries pretty fast so you have to work fast.Be careful not to burn your fingers, though. If you need to you can use some gloves.

Fold the parchment paper in half and flatten the hot glue.I used my fngers for this, since I didn't want to have the hot glue completely flat.Using your fingers creates a lot more texture which I love fo the end result. If you want you can use a rolling pin.

Open up the paper and you have got yourself a small piece of hot glue ''sheet''.

Repeat this step until you have enough sheets to create a flower.

Cut Some Petals

For best results, use a reference photo of the flower you want to make.

Grab your scissors and cut petal-like shapes from your hot glue sheets.I cut larger and smaller ones. They don't have to be perfecty identical - it's the beauty of it to have them be different.

I also cut some strips to go around the center of the flower.

Assemble Your Flower

Using the same parchment paper, put a tiny amount of hot glue, enough to hold a petal.Glue your petal by pressing it down with your fingers gently.Repeat this process until all of your petals are glued.

Once you have glued the smaller inner petals, glue the tiny strips around the center.

Always use small amounts of hot glue because it dries really fast.

After you have glued the strips, dab a large blob of hot glue in the center of your flower.

I ended up glueing some more petals in the back of the larger ones to create a more cohesive look.

Paint Your Flower

I have discovered that acrylic paint adheres really well to hot glue so I painted my poppy using some red, black and green paint.

I let it dry completely before I assembled it.

Using a small needle, punch a tiny hole on your flower.

With your pliers open up a jump ring and put it through the hole.Close the first jump ring.Put another jump ring along with your earring hoop, close it all up and your earrings are complete!
