Hipster Water Bottle Holder

The purpose of this tutorial is to show you how to make a pocket size water bottle holder. This is a great idea to make your water bottle look a little fancier than just sitting on your desk. You can hang it on a hook on the wall and it can double as a water bottle handbag. For instance, if you go out with friends for a walk and want to bring water, this is a cute holder idea.

When you no longer want your water bottle in the holder, you can slide the holder off, and stick it in your pocket! It is small enough to fit in a standard jean pocket.

Supplies

Suede Leather Lace

Stretchy String

Scissors

Tie the Stretchy String

Tie the stretchy string around the top of the water bottle, and cut the string.

Measure Suede

Cut five pieces of suede two and a half times the length of the water bottle. You should have five pieces of suede all the same length, and longer than the length of the water bottle.

Tie the Pieces of Suede

Take one of the pieces of suede and fold it in half. Take the top of the folded loop, and feed it through the top of the stretchy string. Then, tie the suede to the stretchy string.

Repeat this for all 4 pieces of suede going around the circumference of the stretchy string

Tie the First Layer Knots

Now that all five suede strings have been tied to the stretchy string at the top, you need to start the first layer of knots. Start with two strings from different knots and tie them together. These two strings must be from knots that are next to each other. Repeat this for all the strings around the water bottle. You should be left with triangle shapes from all the suede pieces being tied together.

Tie the Second Layer Knots

Similar to the previous step, you are going to take suede pieces from two separate knots, and tie the left and right string together. This will form diamonds in the suede.

Tie a Knot at the Bottom

Flip the water bottle around, and tie all the suede strings together in a knot at the bottom. I chose to take suede from opposite sides of the bottle, and tie knots with each suede string. Make sure the water bottle does not fall in between the holes at the bottom.

Braid the Handle

Cut three pieces of suede two times the length of the water bottle. Tie all three suede pieces together, and braid down the entire length. Tie the end of the braid so it does not come undone.

Tie the Handle to the Bottle

Starting on one side, tie each of the three suede strings from the braid to the strings on the water bottle. Place the braided string in between two of the knots. The left suede string will be tied to the left knot, the right suede string will be tied to the knot on the right, and the middle suede knot will be tied in the middle.

Repeat this process on the other side of the water bottle with the opposite end of the braid.

Cut Excess Strings From the Water Bottle

I chose to cut off the excess strings from the sides of the handles, however this is your own personal opinion. You can keep them on as tassel's if you prefer.

Complete!
