Hex Nut and Washer Bracelet

In this instructable you'll find out how to make a cool bracelet out of things you'd find in your hardware store. It's easy to make, requires only a couple of things, and is a very unique thing to have around your wrist.

For this project you will need:

• One large washer
• Baker's Twine
• about 20 small hex nuts (I only used 16, but you may need more or less than that depending on how big your wrist is)
• Scissors
• Something to secure your bracelet to while you're working on it- I used a clipboard but you could tape or pin it to something

Once you have all of your supplies ready, we can get started!

For this entire project, you'll need four strings- each long enough to wrap around your wrist four times. You'll use two strings for each side of the washer. You'll then need to use two strings to make a slip knot on the washer. If you don't know how to make a slip knot, take two strings, line them up next to each other, and fold them in half. Then take the ends and put them through the washer. This should form a loop- like shape on the other side. Take the ends and feed them through this loop. Then pull it tight. You should now have four strings of equal length tied to the washer. These knots can be taken apart easily, so it should be easy to untie if you need to try the knot again.

To start knotting, secure the washer on a clipboard or tape it to something. Then separate your strings so that there are two in the middle and one on each side. Now pick one side string and cross it over the two middle threads and under the other side string. Now take the other side string and cross it under the two middle threads and over the first side string. Then hold down the two middle threads and pull the two side strings snug. If you need any help, refer to the pictures :) Once you've completed the first knot, make two more.

Now it's time to put the hex nuts into the bracelet. To do this, string a hex nut onto the two middle threads and just finish the knot as normal! For this bracelet I added a hex nut every other knot. Once your bracelet is long enough to reach halfway around your wrist, tie a regular knot and you're halfway there! Now you'll just have to repeat all the steps over again on the other side of the washer.

once you've done the exact same thing on the other side of the washer, tie it off and you're done! It makes a very unique bracelet to wear, and a thoughtful gift for a crafty friend.
