Heart-Shaped Bath Bombs

These bath bombs are the BOMB! They're simple to make and require mostly ingredients you may have in your kitchen cupboard. The only thing I had to purchase was the citric acid.

Create the Dry Mix: Sift together 1 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid, 1/8 cup fine sea salt, and 1/2 tablespoon of cream of tartar.

Create the Wet Mix: Blend 2 tablespoons of carrier oil with whichever essential oil you like. In this recipe I used almond oil, but olive oil works just as well.

Fill a spray bottle with 1/2 rubbing alcohol & 1/2 water.

Slightly dampen the dry mix with the spray mixture while blending with your hands or a spoon. Then mix the wet mix in gradually, while intermittently spraying some squirts of the alcohol mixture. You don't want it to get too wet or you'll activate the fizz too early. Add the food coloring if you want, but be careful not to get the mix too wet.

Once you're satisfied with the mix you can press it into your mold. I had a heart shaped ice mold, but most any mold will do. I have had the best luck with a silicone mold because it's easier to get it out of the mold when cured. Let the mix sit in mold overnight and then gently press it out. Now it's ready for a fun explosion in you bath!
