Hands-Free Room

Hello my name is Avroh and I am entering 6th grade. I made this instructable to be a cool way to enter and exit a room. However I did not have the resources to program, and sense if someone is coming in. So I made the room on scratch.

1. Aluminum foil
2. Cardboard
3. Makey Makey Classic
4. Computer (to view scratch program)
5. Coins (I used quarters)
6. Paper
7. Cardboard Cutter
8. Blue tape

Lay out your materials in an organized way, this will come in handy later on.

Take your cardboard and cut it into four even squares, mine were 6 in by 6 in.

Make cut out four 10 inch by the width of the cardboard squares, put one on top, and one under the squares, with about 6 inches in between and two inches touching the cardboard. Do this to make two cardboard squares.

Take four alligator clips from the Makey Makey box, plug two into earth, one into space, put a tiny white wire into the A in the back, and attach a makey makey to it. I would recommend attaching the earth wires onto the bottom of both, and the others onto the top. However you might have to take them off later in this so don't attach them snugly.

Take a squarish piece of paper put a coin on top, and then put another squarish piece of paper on top, tape it shut and repeat. Lift up the top layer of the tinfoil and put two-three of these inside. This is to make sure the tin foil doesn't stick together.

Take two pieces of paper and draw a arrow on them place one of them (with the arrow signifying exit) next to the cardboard that is connected to space on the Makey Makey. Place the other (facing the opposite direction) with the tinfoil that is connected with the A key, watch the video to see how I did it. You can adapt this to look like anything you want (the arrows), for example you could decorate them or draw the arrows onto the tinfoil/cardboard.

Tape up the ends of the tinfoil to the cardboard like in the photo, do it for the top and bottom (four pieces of tape in a cardboard/tinfoil thing).

Click the A key to go in, and the space key to go out/ step on the tinfoil accordingly.
