Hallway Remodel
Alexa and I worked on a design for a possible hallway remodel. We came up with the idea of a foldable racetrack!
Supplies
-Homestyler
-Thingiverse
-3D Print
-Printable paper
Measuring the Hallway
We started off by measuring the the length, width, and height of the real hallway. We used the blocks/tiles for reference, each being 1ft by 1ft.
Converting the Measurements
We used the 1/4 inch scale to convert the measurements of the real hallway to create measurements for our 3D model.
Create on Homestyler
We decided to use Homestyler as our resource to make a 3D scaled model (Using our scaled down measurements). In this program we were able to bring our design to life, using textures, colors, furniture, and decorations.
Assemble Provided Hallway Template
We used the provided matboard to put together our 3D model, we used glue and tooth picks to ensure our model was secure.
Decorating the 3D Model
To personalize our 3D model we used thingisverse to find racecars to 3D print. We exported the chosen design from thingiverse to makerbot in order to print, (here we had to experiment with sizing to make sure the cars were to scale with our model. During this process we also used matboard to create the actual racetrack and created a "piano hinge" to allow the racetrack to foldup to the wall. We also used matboard to create a shelf for the racecars when the racetrack is folded. We also printed some colorful signs to decorate our model and enhance the racetrack theme.
