Now that Halloween is right around the corner, you may want to spice up some of your old cookie recipes with the delicious spider cookie. These are chocolate chip, peanut butter cup cookies, which taste amazing. These are a great party treat to serve to friends and family.

Supplies

3/4 cup white granulated sugar, 1 cup packed brown sugar, 1 cup butter (softened), 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 2 large eggs, 3 cups all-purpose flour, 3/4 tsp baking soda, 3/4 tsp salt, 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted chocolate, eatable eyes, and Reese's cup minis.

The base cookies are going to be normal chocolate chip cookies, the recipe I use is as follows:

3/4 cup white granulated sugar, 1 cup packed brown sugar, 1 cup butter (softened), 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 2 large eggs, 3 cups all-purpose flour, 3/4 tsp baking soda, 3/4 tsp salt, and 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips. First, cream together the butter and sugars, then add the eggs and vanilla and continue to beat until smooth. Secondly, add in the flour, baking soda, and salt and blend until combined. Finally, stir in chocolate chips.

Place dough portions on a greased cookie sheet about 1.5 inches apart and bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes or until set and bottoms lightly browned. Allow to cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes and then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

First create a template for the spider legs on a piece of paper, using a sharpie marker. Place the created template under a piece of wax paper, and trace your template using melted chocolate. Then using melted chocolate, attach the edible eyes to the reese's mini cup. A good tip is if you refrigerate your reeses cup before hand, the eyes attach much faster. After this, using more melted chocolate, attach the legs to the cookie and placing more melted chocolate on top of the legs to attach the head. Repeat this process and that's it. Simple spider cookies.
