3D design is gaining popularity across many industries. With 3D design, one can create 3D models that can be used to simulate real objects. In this tutorial blog, we are using SelfCAD to 3D model a simple circle chain. SelfCAD is one of the simple to use yet amazing CAD programmes for beginners and experts, assuming you haven't tried it yet. We decided to use SelfCAD because it has all the essential features needed for 3D printing and designing jobs. Users can slice, render, sculpt, and even build 3D models. The built-in slicer is essential because it allows 3D creators to slice their 3D models and get them ready for 3D printing without switching to another piece of software.

We will insert a torus to create the chain's 3D model before modifying it with tools like copy offsets, move, Round Object, etc.

Let's start with the design, then!

Insert a Torus and Copy It

First of all, from the 3D Shapes category insert a torus to the working interface. Set ring radius to 15, tube radius to 3, position x to 50, and rotation z to 60. Then click on the copy button to copy the selected object.

Rotate It Using Manual Origin Position

Next, select the rotate tool and set z to -60 click on the manual origin position. Then click on the highlighted point and set y to 22.5.

Copy Offset the Selected Object

Now, we will select both the objects, go to tools and select the copy offsets option. Set operation to pivot and amount of copies to 7. Then click on the create copy option.

Make Them a Union and Add Smoothness to It

Next, select all the objects, go to stitch and scoop and make them a union. Then go to the modify category and select the round object tool. Set smoothness to 2.

CONCLUSION: THEREFORE, WE HAVE CREATED a 3D SIMPLE CIRCLE CHAIN IN SelfCAD

In just four easy stages, we used SelfCAD to make a simple 3D circle chain. Character 3D modelling is simple to do if you have the finest tools available. The same approach can be used to create your own designs in 3D, and once you're done modelling it in 3D, you can slice it using SelfCAD's built-in slicer to create the G-Code needed to transmit it to your 3D printer for printing.
