HOW I BUILT a SIMPLE DISPLAY EASEL

My son and his fiancé wanted a sign-in board for guests at their upcoming wedding and asked if I could build them something. A simple easel was agreed upon.

I installed dowels to act as pivots into the end of two 1 x 2s. In fact, the whole easel was made from just a few pieces of 1 x 2s.

I secured cross braces for the easel to hold its shape.

I drilled holes in the legs so they could pivot on the dowels. These too got cross supports.

I was given a frame and the sign-in board to put together.

I added a shelf for the sign-in board to sit on.

I painted it silver. Then I tested it.

They liked this so much they asked for a second one which I gladly did.

If you look at the simplicity of this and extrapolate what went into it, the basic idea can be used for all sorts of things. Smaller it could be used to display a photograph on a shelf. Heavier lumber and you could make a kid's art easel. The possibilities are there for the inventive mind.
