Glitter Glue Jellyfish Suncatchers
These stunning jellyfish suncatchers are made of nothing more than glitter glue, beads, ribbon, and cord. Kids will enjoy the fun and ease of making these and seeing the sunlight through all the glitter.
Supplies
Plastic lids to use as molds
Glitter glue
Glitter and neon plastic cord
Colored clear beads
Sheer ribbon
Aluminum foil
Shape Foil
To turn the plastic lid into a jellyfish shape, compress a piece of foil to cover the bottom 1/4 of the circle. The more organic the shape, the better. Compress enough foil to fill up to the lip of the lid, then hold down with tape.
Draw Stripes
Use alternating colors of glitter glue to draw stripes. Use only a single layer of glue as you do not want to fill the lid at this point.
Add Ribbon
Cut 2 to 3 strips of sheer ribbon twice the length of the plastic lid. Press onto the glue around the center of the jellyfish.
Add Cord
Cut 5 to 6 strips of plastic cord in various lengths, three to four times the length of the plastic lid. Press onto the glue, spacing evenly across. Tape the cord ends to the table to prevent the cords from crossing over each other.
Add Beads
Add clear colored beads to create decorative touches.
Fill Lid
Fill the lid completely with glue, following the same stripe pattern as the bottom layer.
Let Dry
Now this is the hardest part -- let the suncatchers completely dry. This may be a wait of 3 to 4 days.
Peel
Peel off the suncatcher from the lid, then peel off the foil from the suncatcher.
Catch the Sun
Stick your jellyfish suncatchers to a window using double-sided tape. Enjoy the colorful sunshine!
