Giving New Life to Old Sheet Music

Over time, we've amassed quite a collection of old sheet music from a couple of generations of musical family members. Some had been stored in a piano bench for a while, and browsing through them revealed some really artistic covers. Turns out the sheet music fits quite nicely in 11x14 size frames and makes great wall accents, saving them from the obscurity of the piano bench and providing a visible place of honor and renewed appreciation in our family.

The process is pretty straightforward.

Old Sheet Music

11x14 wall frames

Some tape or spray adhesive

Mounting board or mat board - optional

Depending on the size of your sheet music and selected frames, you'll probably have to center up and afix the sheet music to a mat board in some way. Some double sided tape or a bit of spray adhesive will do the trick.

You don't want to ruin your sheet music (I hope!) , so you only need a dab of fixative, usually at the top and bottom of your music sheet, to attach it to the mat board.

Pretty straightforward.

We thought the dark wood frames were a simple complement to the sheet music covers, and made a set of three to arrange over an old piano we have.

It's fun to see music our parents and grandparents out in the daylight - although not direct light, to protect from fading - enjoying fresh life and renewed appreciation.

If it's worth keeping, it should be worth using and enjoying!
