Geode Bath Bomb
Bath bombs are SO popular right now. And there is nothing on earth like that pure and clean feeling after taking the longest bath. A bath that makes each and every muscle of yours feeling like a jello.
I just love walking around the house with my robe like i'm at the spa feeling so peaceful. In order to get that feeling I wanted to create a bath bomb that has some "secret" ingredients in it that will make me feel like I have no concerns in life.
And just to complete the whole experience, i decided making the bath bombs looking like bautiful geodes.
In this instructable I'm going to show you how to make those geodes bath bombs that moisturizes the skin and soothes aches and pains.
As all bath bombs it "explodes" when placed in bath water.
But I decided that it shouldn’t be just for fun but also have some benefits for my skin. I used some natural coloring methods such as cocoa and paprika, as well as Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) which I'll explain about in the instructable.
Equipment and Ingredients:
1 cup baking soda
0.5 cup + 3 Tbsp Epsom salt
0.5 cup citric acid
0.5 cup cornstarch
2.5 Tbsp coconut oil
1 Tbsp water
Coloring- I used cocoa powder, paprika, turmeric and natural food coloring.
Semi circle silicone mold or plastic ornaments ball
Medium mixing Bowl
3 small bowls
Covering the Silicone Mold
Use the plastic wrap to protect the silicone mold.
This step is optional, I just didn’t like the idea of using materials such as Epsom salt in a mold I also use for baking.
Add Dry Ingredients
In a medium mixing bowl add, baking soda, Epsom salt, citric acid and cornstarch.
Whisk until well blended.
Epsom salt:
Breaks down into magnesium and sulfate in water.
Softens and exfoliate skin.
Relaxes the muscles and loosen stiff joints.
Helps with sore muscles after a work out, sunburns and bruises.
**Despite the name, Epsom salt isn't the salt you know. So please don't eat it.
Add Wet Ingredients
In the same mixing bowl add coconut oil and water and whisk until mixture becomes damp.
Add Smell and Color
Add an essential oil that you like and whisk.
Now for the coloring-
You can use food coloring if you want the bath bomb to be more pretty.
But I suggest using either paprika, cocoa powder or turmeric as a coloring.
These are actually good for our skin and has more benefits then just a color.
Cocoa is my favorite, you can really feel the difference after taking a bath.
Why cocoa?
Contains omega 6 fatty acids- helps heal wounds and scars.
Contains raw enzyme- helps in repairing cells and rejuvenating them.
It provides hydration to the skin
And many more benefits.
Why paprika?
used for preventing any pigmentation including freckles and age spots. evens out skin tone.
Rich in beta carotene which converts into vitamin A in our body.
Vitamin A helps prevents an occurrence of wrinkles.
It is also good for our hair.
Why turmeric?
Contains antioxidants that provides a healthy glow to your skin.
Helps healing wounds and decreasing inflammation.
And many more.
Prepare Epsom Salt
In each of the 3 small bowls place 1 Tbsp Epsom salt and add coloring to create 3 diferent shades.
One shade should be very light and one that is very dark.
Assembling the Bath Bomb
Pour the mixture into one of the semicircles. Press it, as even as you can, to the sides. Add more mixture if needed until the sides and bottom are covered with a thick layer.
Sprinkle the light-colored Epsom salt and add a few drops of coconut oil. Press the salt to the sides of the circle.
Repeat with the darker shades so that it gets darker as you get closer to the middle.
Cool
Place In the fridge for about 3 hours.
After cooling you can take the bath bombs out of the molds and place next to your bath.
They are ready to be used.
Have a Soothing Bath With Your New Favorite Bath Bomb
enjoy!
