Makes 30 cookies

Ingredients

1 cup of granulated sugar

3/4 a cup of butter

1 egg

3 tbsp. of molasses

2 cups of flour, sifted

1 tsp. baking soda

1 1/2 tsp. of ground ginger

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. of salt

1/2 tsp. of cloves

1/2 tsp. of ground nutmeg

Glaze

1 cup of powdered sugar

1 tbsp. water

1 tsp. lemon juice

Steps to make cookies

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees then in a mixer add 1 cup of granulated sugar with 3/4 a cup of butter. Mix and wait until light and fluffy for about 3 minutes. Mix in 1 egg and 3 tbsp. molasses.

2. In another big bowl stir together 2 cups of sifted flour, 1 tsp. of baking soda and all of the spices. Add to the butter mixture and blend well.

3. Fill a bowl with granulated sugar. With the dough you made, make golf sized balls and roll those in the sugar. With the dough balls covered in sugar put those on a greased cookie sheet. Put the cookies in the oven for around 10 to 12 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, you make the glaze: put the powdered sugar in a big bowl and add 1 tbsp. of water. Stir until smooth. When it has been stirred well add lemon juice and stir again. Once smooth pour the glaze over the baked cookies. Serve with your favorite ice cream.

Enjoy
