Folding and Rolling Compact Workbench With Electrical Outlet and Extension Cord

My workshop is small by most standards. It's a little bit less than half of a one car garage. I needed a portable workbench that I could roll out onto the covered patio and quickly set up in front of the shop. It would also serve as a base on which to clamp my bench mounted power tools. Since the top is ordinary 3/4" plywood and easily replaced, I don't hesitate to screw temporary jigs or drill holes in the top. Paint spills and saw marks don't bother me. Having a built-in electrical outlet with an extension cord is also very handy.

I used only ordinary hand and power tools to build the bench. All the materials, hardware, miscellaneous pieces plus the electricals were left over from previous projects, recycled, repurposed or found. Detailed dimensions and descriptions for all the parts are clearly noted on the two plan images.

After several tries, I came up with this little fellow. It had to be sturdy, compact in size plus easy to make with readily available materials and hardware. I also wanted to save my back from pending over a 30" high folding table. This bench has a finished height of about 36". The dimensions and details of all the parts are clearly shown on the drawings.
