Faerie Crown Wire Frame

A flower crown for fit for a garden fairy. These wire frames are quick, cheap, and easy to make. I take a few to the park and weave wild flowers in while minding the kids, and pass them out as I complete them. The girls are always wowed! :)

You will need:

• craft wire that is strong enough to hold its shape and support the weight of flowers
• pencil or wooden dowel
• flowers and leaves, real or fabric
• *optional: glycerin solution of 1 part glycerin to 4 parts water

Tools such as wire cutters and pliers would be helpful, but not necessary, unless you're using very heavy wire (if you're planning on using heavier flowers).

A few hairpins will help keep the crown on your garden fairy.

Spraying fresh picked flowers with the glycerin solution will keep them fresh for a few hours.

Flatten the coil first, then pull to stretch. Stretch it out until each loop is about the size of the pencil core, or big enough to accommodate flower stems.

Wrap wire around pencil or dowel to make a coil.

When the wire frame is big enough, join the ends together. Bend or tape the ends so they are not stabby.

Now for the fun part! Thread stems into the loops and wrap around the wire. Repeat until crown is filled. There will likely be a back or underside to it. You can go back and add in more stems to fill it out if needed.
