Fabric Boa Dress Upgrade
I was recently a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. She gave us the fabric and just told us to do anything we wanted with it as long as it was a knee length dress. My mom helped me to make the dress and I wanted something else on it so I made this decoration and it made all the difference!
Materials
1/2 yard of fabric (mine was silk charmusse)
1/2 yard same color tulle
Scissors
Thread and needle
Circles
Cut a long strip of your fabric and fold it to get a little square. Place a sewing pin in the middle to hold all the layers. Cut a circle. This circle doesn't have to be perfect so I didn't use a pattern, if you're a perfectionist you can use one if you want.
Do the same with the tulle, you'll need a lot of circles so keep doing it until you have a bunch.
Flowers
Grab one of the tulle circles, fold it in half and in half again. Hold it with one hand and do the same with a silk circle. Hold them together with the corner in the same position. Do this until you have 5 pieces of alternated fabric. Make a stitch in the corner to hold them together.
More and More
I used around 60 of these so keep doing it until you have as many as you want.
Sew
Cut a long piece of silk and this is where we're going to make the boa. Stitch the little pieces in the fabric close enough to let them open and cover the fabric we're putting them on. Go down to get a long piece all covered with them.
Cut the extra fabric from the sides.
Design
Now its time to choose where we're going to put it in the dress. It can be in various ways, all along the neckline, just in the center or, as I chose, only in one side.
Ready!
Make little stitches to hold it in place and you can even put some clips to attach it and take it off whenever you want!
Show off!
