Easy Present Bow From a Magazine
I love to make these bows whenever giving presents, because nothing goes better with an awesome homemade present than an awesome customizeable present bow to go on top of it!
Preparations!
For this instructable you'll need a few new things:
- Magazine page (the more colorful the better!)
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Tape
Find a nice colorful page in your magazine, and remove it. Be sure that it doesn't have anything important on the back!
Cut the magazine into 6 equal sized strips lengthwise. You might want to cut these strips so that they are about 1" thick. Then, set aside TWO of the strips, cut 2" off of only TWO of the strips. Then, cut TWO more strips in half. Check out the photo for reference.
Folding
Now go ahead and take one of your strips, and flip it over. Take the top of your paper, and bend it such that the top of the paper is now in the middle WITHOUT CREASING IT. Go ahead and take a look at the photo for reference. Then flip the paper over and repeat with the other end of the paper.
Take your stapler and staple it right in the middle so that it stays in place.
Now repeat with all of the strips of paper!
Assemble!
Take the two biggest former-paper strips and lay them perpendicular to each other. You can staple them in the middle, but if you have a tiny stapler like me, just use tape!
Pair up the two next biggest, and do the same! For the smallest two strips, choose the most colorful of the two, and pull that one aside.
Assemble! More!
Take the medium cross you made, and place it inside the biggest cross, like in the photo. You can attach the two via stapler, or tape. Then take the smallest piece and attach it in the same way to the inside of the other two.
And that's it! Fluff up your bow and try to get rid of any creases.
This is such a great way to personalize a present, and use up all of those old magazines lying around! Let me know how your making goes, and be sure to leave a comment and photo of the awesome bows you made!
