Easy Frozen Peanut Butter Pie Dog Treats

Hello there, my name is Riley. I have made different versions of these treats for my dogs for years. They have always loved them and have great benefits on hot, summer days. I always make my dog treats frozen so they don't go bad as fast, dogs can enjoy them longer, and they are much, much less messy.

Ingredients

Crust:

• 10 small dog treats
• 4 tsp of water

Filling:

• 4 Tbsp of peanut butter
• 1 tsp of milk
• 3 1/3 Tbsp of water

Topping (optional):

• 8 banana slices
• 4 dog treats
• 1 Tbsp of peanut butter

Materials

• Blender
• Silicone molds (any shape/size)
• Small mixing bowl
• Medium mixing bowl
• Spatula (mixing)
• Whisk
• Liquid measuring cups
• Solid measuring cups
• Microwave
• Freezer
• Clock

Pick any 10 treats of your choosing, that are preferably small, as this will be forming the ¨crust¨ to our treats. For this step I used milk bones, but you can use anything you want. You do want to make sure you use hard treats for this recipe, given that soft/chewy treats could possibly become sticky in the blender.

You can blend your treats as fine as you want. Personally I wish I blended mine a tad smaller, but it worked either way. It should just be blended enough to be packed down to form a crust.

The treats should now be blended up and ready to mix. Dump them into a small bowl.

Add the water to your blended treats and whisk it together until combined. The mix should be somewhat sticking together but still pretty crumbly. More water will be added in step 5. The water is broken up into two steps to ensure that the water gets evenly distributed, and one part doesn't get more sticky than another.

Now add your second round of water to your blended treats. Make sure the mix it thoroughly to ensure it will all stick together. After mixing you should be able to pack it together with the spatula. If it's still not packing add 1 tsp of water at a time until it does.

Grab a pinch at a time and pack it into each individual mold. This will help ensure it is all getting packed down so there is no lose spots. Fill each mold only about 3/4 of the way so there is room left for the filling. Refrigerate.

• 4 Tbsp Peanut Butter
• 1 tsp Milk
• 1 tsp Water

Add these ingredients into a medium mixing bowl. Do your best to whisk them together as it will get very thick when combined. This is exactly what we want as of this step to make sure there are no clumps.

Microwaving the thick mixture is a very important step. Even though it is only 10 seconds, it help allow the water you add in mix with it. It warms it up and helps smooth everything out. Once you add your water it will take some time so be patient and it should look similar, if not identical to mine.

Fresh from the fridge, the crust should be a little more firm. Pouring the filling over top, don't try to make it perfect. Your pups won't mind a little messy and it makes it easier on you. Once filling is distributed, freeze them to make them more solid for topping.

Finally, add your toppings of choice. I added Banana slices, more blended treats, and some more peanut butter on top. Any toppings should be okay, just of course, make sure they are dog friendly. Once topped, freeze for at least an hour before removing them from their molds. I recommend freezing them for longer, but for the purpose of the video above, I could only freeze them for an hour. If you watch the end of the video you can see that they were still soft in spots, so freezing longer would help.
