Duct Tape Daisy Pen

  • How to transform an everyday pen to a fun flower!
  • This DIY is super fun and easy and can be available ages 5 and up.
  • Parental supervision recommended ages 5-9 with use of scissors, measuring, and wire cutters.
  • Estimated time: 45 minutes

Tools needed:

  • Ink pen
  • Three different colors of duct tape (green recommend for the stem)
  • Scissors
  • Floral wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Hard, flat work space
  • Ruler or measuring tape

Measure, Cut, Roll

Use ruler to measure the duct tape to go on the body (stem) of the pen and cut tape with scissors. Place pen length wise on duct tape and begin rolling the pen until fully covered.

Cutting Squares for Inner Flower

Choosing second color, cut small squares measuring 2 inches each: 22-30 squares total.

Folding Squares

Fold corner edges over onto sticky side of duct tape, leaving the bottom half exposed. Repeat this process for each square.

Creating Inner Flower

Wrap each individual square around the top of the pen, with the point of the square pointing upwards.

Forming the Flower Petals

Cut 12 pieces of the third color of duct tape that are 5 inches long, 1 inch wide.

Wiring the Petals

Cut floral wire with wire cutters measuring 3 inches long and stick them to the end of the tape strip from step 5.

Fold over the top of the duct tape, leaving the bottom part of the tape exposing the wire and sticky side. The tape should not cover the entire wire and should leave a portion of the sticky side exposed.

Shaping Petals

Cut the folded area of duct tape into a petal shape.

Placing Petals

Place each petal onto the pre-made center of the pen using the exposed side of the petal. Layer the petals to add dimension and depth.

Forming Base Petals

Repeat steps 2-3 in the same color as the stem, this time with a total of 4 squares.

Finalizing Stem

Place each square at the bottom of the flower, where the petals and the top of the stem meet.

Final Product

Adjust petals as needed to create a flower-like appearance and enjoy!
