Delicious Turkey Burgers

To prepare before cooking, you will want to take your mushrooms and onions and chop them up into slices. You will also want to form your ground turkey into patties. You should make them wider and thinner than you want them to be when they are done because they will shrink in diameter and grow vertically as you cook them.

Supplies

  • Ground turkey patties
  • Mayonnaise
  • Balsalmic vinegar
  • Fresh mozzarella
  • Buns
  • Mushrooms (small)
  • Onion

Heat Your Grill

In order to get a good cook on your patties, you ideally want to sear the outsides first. This requires you to turn one burner up to full heat. This is where your patties will start. Usually, put this burner on the far left or right. The middle two burners should be on low, and the last burner should be on medium-high. This is because once the burgers are seared, you don't want to apply a ton more heat to the outsides of the patties. If you do, they will burn. Don't forget to spray your burners with a little bit of cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Cook the Patties

Once your burners are hot, place two patties on the hottest burner. Once you start to see color creep up the sides, you know it's time to flip it. It should take about two minutes. After flipping the patties, season the other side of the burger. Once both sides have been seared, move those two patties onto the center burners where it's not as hot. Then sear your next two patties as you did the first two. Continue flipping the patties on the center burners until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees. Transfer the patties off the grill once they have reached that temperature.

Cook Your Veggies

Transfer your chopped mushrooms and onions to a grill basket and put them on the grill over medium heat. Toss them in some seasoning and olive oil and continue stirring them until they are done to your liking.

Make the Sauce

While your veggies are cooking, you can make your sauce. Take your mayonnaise and balsamic vinegar and mix them together in a bowl until it looks the color in the picture and is about the consistency of barbeque sauce.

Grill the Buns

While this is an optional step, I do recommend it. Turn the grill down to low heat and pop the buns in there for just a minute on both sides. It makes the buns just a little bit crispy. You don't want the heat high or to leave the buns on the grill for too long though. You will burn them.

Assemble Your Burger

Now that you have everything cooked and prepared, put your burger together. I would recommend the order of bun, sauce, patty, cheese, veggies, sauce, bun. Enjoy your burger!
