It's DJ S.M.I.LE.!!!!! This thing is pretty fun. It is a sort of mobile speaker, and I would probably make a fun alarm.
The S.M.I.L.E. stands for Small, Motorized, Initiated, Localized, Epic. I have know idea how it is localized but it sounds like some kind of robotics term, so i threw it in there for fun, and to make the acronym work.
Things You Need
1 R/C Car, can be bought for ten dollars at Wal-Mart.
2 6" foam ball, about five dollars at Wal-Mart if you don't have one.
3 Tiny bluetooth speaker, five bucks at Wal-Mart.
4 Box cutters/ Utility knife (sharp, so if you are younger, ask for adult help)
5 Hot glue gun and glue sticks, both are pretty cheap, but seeing as this is instructables I would be surprised if you didn't already own one.
6 Yellow acrylic paint
7 Black paint
Painting
Well, all you have to do first is completely paint the ball with the yellow acrylic paint. You could probably use other paint, but I used acrylic and it worked well, so I put it in here. This step takes a while because you have to wait for it to dry, so you might want to do it before you go to sleep.
SMILE!
After the base paint dries, (in my case it is yellow) simply paint on whatever face you want. I painted on a simple smiley face, and if you do this, it should leave you feeling like and outdated Wal-Mart employee.
Drawing Time!
Okay, so now what you do is take the speaker and set it on top of your foam head thing. Trace around it with a marker, and it should leave a well defined shape.
Measuring the Speaker. With a Knife. Much Safety. Wow.
So take your box cutter or whatever, and lay it, with the blade out a bit, next to your speaker. Mark a line right above the hight of your speaker.
Please Don't Hurt Yourself During This Step.
Okay, if you are a younger person, get an adult to do it for you or to help. One the shape you traced from your speaker onto the foam thing, stab the blade into the line up to the mark you made in the previous step. Proceed to cut out the whole square this way. Then pop it out with a fork or something and it should look something like...
...this
So after you have that, cut out a little thumb hole, for ease of access to the speaker, as shown in the second picture.
GLUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEE!!!!!!
So this step is probably the easiest, just take the car and spread some hot glue on the top using your handy glue gun. Then place the foam head on top, press it down gently, let it dry for a minute or two, then connect it to your phone and jam out with your mobile speaker. You can also add a DJ stand with some scrap foam like I did in the cover photo. Have fun, and smile!
