DIY Wah Pedal

there are many wah pedals for sale nowadays, but these pedals remain one of the most expensive. in this instructable I show you how to build a good working pedal for a small price.

Supplies

  • 2x Female input jack 6.35mm
  • Prototype PCB 60 x 40mm
  • DC power connector
  • 7x male pinheaders
  • TL972 Low Noice Op-Amp
  • 80K resistor
  • 160K resistor
  • 400ohm resistor
  • 2x 10K resistor
  • 10K linear potentiometer
  • 2x 10nF ceramic capacitor
  • 2x 10uf electrolytic capacitor
  • 3d print material
  • 3D printer
  • Female Wires
  • solder Iron
  • 2x M3 x 15mm bolts
  • 2x M3 nuts

Solder PCB

Solder the prototype PCB with al the components as shown in the schematic.

Solder female header cable's on the jack inputs and on the potentiometer.

EDIT: i've added a view of a idea for a breadboard implementation. I hope it helps. I've got some questions about the TO-220 package with two ceramic capacitors. This is a LM7805 with two couple capacitors. this is for the use of a MCP6002. The TL972 works with +9v but the MCP6002 can only handle a maximum of +5v.

Print the 3D Parts

I reccomend printing the gear parts with more precision then the other parts.

If you use a tough/strong 3d print material you may not need the "loper" plus "lope-geleider". because they are to secure the gear parts.

The "beugel" is bolted in place above the "Onderkant-behuizing" with some M3 bolts and nuts.

The "Tandwiel-loper is glue'd in place with some superglue.

The "Sleutel" is only for tightning the potentiometer because its not easy to reach.

Assemble the Pedal

You can fit the pcb in the box with some screws. the jack connectors can just bolted in place just like the potentiometer.

you have to figure out while testing if the potentiometer is in the right direction. other wise use the other holder for it.

make sure you assemble the input jack from left to right: input, output.

Test Your Pedal
