DIY Vintage Floral Nail Stickers

Can you paint some dots on a piece of paper? Can you trim your nails? If you answered yes to both of these questions, you too, can have pretty floral nails!                                                                                                                                                                                                       So sometimes I see some really cool nail art online and I try to do it on myself and it looks kinda bad. It gets worse with my left hand... but I really really want to have fancy nails and not pay a million bucks for them. And then I thought of this Hunger Games-esque nail tutorial... http://www.ohsoprettythediaries.com/2012/04/manic-mani-monday-flame-manicure.html ........................................................................... Aha! Solution: DIY nail strips using a Ziplock bag and nail polish

Paint the Base Strip

Get a Ziplock baggie or any plastic-ish surface like a garbage bag or grocery bag. Using a pale nail polish (I used a pearly white one from Forever21) and paint a strip about the length of your palm and as thick as your thumbnail. Let dry.

Blob Blob Blob

Dab some pale pink nail polish in dots of varying sizes on the white strip.

Dash in a Circle

Make little dashes using a darker pink nail art brush (or a toothpick) in a circle on the pink blobs. Think Van Gogh's Starry Night.

Green Flicks

Now use a pale green nail polish and dab around the roses, flicking away from the center of the flower like the rays emanating from the sun. I'd go for no more than 2 leaves per rose bud.

Streak It

Grab a darker green and load it with just enough nail polish to make teeny streaks on the pale green leaves to add some dimension.

Dry and Peel

Hooray! You've got a pretty floral print now! Wait until it's completely dry and... drumroll... peel the strip right off the plastic. You'll notice that it's kind of moist feeling and clings to your finger a bit.

Glue on Nails

Using a light colored nail polish as glue, paint a thin layer on your nail, then press your new nail sticker on top. Cut off excess.

Trim and Mush

Use nail clippers to trim it off and then use your fingers and nails to mush the edges of the sticker into the crevices in your nail. This makes the nail sticker stick to the nail more and it looks more natural.

Enjoy!
