What inspired me?

I have recently acquired a pallet, but with such a mass of projects completed, I assumed that I had used all of it, however, to my surprise, I had an extra length. In amazing condition. So, I decided to complete another, slightly better speaker project.

What will you need?

-A length of pallet wood, or any wood

-a 50mm hole saw

-jig saw

-sander

-4mm drill bit

-7mm drill bit

Step 1 - Cutting

First, I used the phone and speaker to decide on a length that I thought t be appropriate. Whilst doing this, I thought to add a curve on one side to make the speaker look a little more stylish. I decided upon a length of 200mm. I then added a 90 diameter curve on the left hand side. I needed four of these due to each piece having to case something else. I then placed the measurements ono the length and used a jig saw to cut each piece. I made sure not to cut on the line as this ensured I had something to sand away.

Step 2 - the Phone Slot

Once I had made sure each piece was cut, I used my sander to ensure I had a very round edge. I used so screws to screw them together in place so I could make sure the curve was almost the same on each piece. Te next task was then to cut the place for the phone and speaker. On the first piece I used traced over the phone and then placed the speaker on the curved side and marked the rough centre. I then used a 50mm hole saw to make a hole in the first piece. Make sure that the hole isnt bigger then the speaker as this is what the speaker will sit into.

Step 3 - Second Piece

The next step was to cut a space for the speaker to fit into. One the second piece, I traced over the speaker in the space I wanted it and then used a 7mm drill bit to drill holes around the circumference of the circle. I then used my jig saw to cut the shape out, I made sure that it was slightly larger than the actual speaker so it would fit a little better. After a little trial and error the speaker fit. I have it a little file down and I sanded the surfaces to get a better connection.

Step 4 - Third Piece

When the second piece was done, I had to move onto the third piece. This is the section that hold the circuit and battery, so when you plan out the sizes, make sure to measure the height and general size of the battery and circuit first. I drew out a 80mm by 40mm rectangle in the centre of the piece making sure it over lapped with the circle on the second piece. I then used the 7mm drill bit to make four holes in the corners and used a jig saw to cut it out. It doesn't really have to be pretty as you will cover it up, however I files it down anyway. I I used a 32mm speed bit to drill a hole in the centre of the hole on the second piece on the third piece. I drilled this down 10mm.

Step 5 - Forth Piece and Assembly

The last piece is the part to hold all of the things in place. Nothing has to be done to complete this piece so I just used some sand paper, and the orbital to gently sand the surfaces of the piece to get rid of pencil marks and general burring caused by saying.

The next step was pretty easy but look a lot of time. I placed my phone in the holder and marked where about the AUX would have to sit. I used a 10mm drill bit to drill this hole, making sure it only drilled around 15mm. I them used the same drill bit to drill a hole on the back of the first piece to intercept the vertical hole. I then threaded the AUX cable through as much as possible and then connected all of the components together. I inserted all of the components in the correct place and then used clamps to clamp the pieces together, I connected two pieces together and drilled 4mm wide 30mm deep pilot holes and used two screws to attack the pieces together. I did this until the project was assembled.
