💎 DIY Miniature Books With Gold Embossing and Gems - Video Tutorial & Free Printables

In the Middle Ages very few people were literate, so the written word was valued. Treasure bindings were Medieval book covers encrusted with precious metals and jewels… an extravagant luxury in the Middle Ages. These rare masterpieces included gold, silver, sapphires, diamonds, emeralds, ivory, pearls and garnets..! 

Inspired by these ancient treasures, I’ve attempted to lavishly embellish these 1:12 scale mini books with gold embossing and tiny jewels! 

In this step-by-step DIY video tutorial below, I show various ways to use heat embossing for embellishment, as well as gold foil and nail art gems to adorn these mini books and turn them into treasures! 💎📖

In Part 1 we created 18 miniature books. In Part 2 we adorned them with brass, tiny chains and working clasps! Today, we’ll lavish them with beautiful gold powder and heat embossing, some gold foil... and of course, we’ll use tiny gems to bejewel and beautify these little books! So, let's embellish!

It’s your choice to decorate these covers before or after you’ve bound the books… you can just as easily emboss the covers after you’ve bound them.
