This Instructable will show, how to build a micro FPV Video transmitter for mini quadcopter. (FATSHARK compatible)

I apologize in advance for any inaccuracies or omissions. I do not take any responsibility and I'm not liable for any damage caused through the use of this guide.

Most of the information was seen on the internet. So thanks to all the people before me, that had disclosed their knowledge.

The Origins…

My FPV equipment for micro quadcopter:

Headsets Fatshark Attitude V2

Ultra Micro FPV Camera and Video Transmitter (SPMVA1100)

This high quality video transmitter is really small and lightweight, but very expensive.

A long time ago,
I bought the transmitter Walkera “TX-5805 CE Version 25mW”, ( http://www.myrcmart.com/walkera-58ghz-video-camer... ) because I read on a forum that the chip RTC6705 used by the transmitter TX-5805 has the ability to work with frequencies near Fatshark freq.

Ok… we are close to the ideal price, but is not really mini, and the camera lens is not wide! Looking inside of this transmitter I have identified the module MM213TL V1.1, so I searched in internet...

Weight, Current, Voltage:

  • 8.5g
  • 0.33A @ 3.3V

…I founded this: ( http://it.aliexpress.com/item/FPV-5-8G-50mW-8CH-W... ) $10.90

Adding a good camera with a decent lens opening, ( http://www.goodluckbuy.com/120-degree-wide-ange-m... ) $20.51

Total spending: $31.41

...I'm on the right track... but...

I received the module in Band E. (I suppose "Boscam" compatible). I have to change it, for Fatshark compatibility.

…so...

This discussion explains what you should do to change bands frequency on the module MM213TL V1.1, in my case I made the welding blob on pins 3 and 4 (to ground) for switch in Band A, and I have soldered the pads "CH1, CH2, CH2" to ground . (But, for Fatshark, it also works with other channel configurations).

For operate on pins 3 and 4, you have to remove the metallic cap.

The datasheet of the chip RTC6705 is here (see pag.7 for Channel Selection Table): https://www.google.it/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&so...

  • Cut the camera cables, (length 25 mm) and discard all the rest... (Rca connector, etc...)
  • welding the camera wires:

yellow wire to "Video"

white wire cable to "AUDIO" (optional)

black wire to "GND"

red wire to "+V"

add a black wire (GND) and a red wire (+V), length as you want (approx. 50mm), and add the connector that you want. (I used the micro male and female Walkera style battery connector). …see photos.

Apply the double sided tape (thickness 0.5mm approx.) behind the camera (above the components) and place it as shown in the picture.

Place the antenna provided, in the position that you prefer.

(The antenna shown in the picture is a DIY Cloverleaf Antenna, to made it, I used these instructions: http://blog.oscarliang.net/make-diy-cloverleaf-an... )

If you want, you can use a clear heatshrink for a professional look. (optional)

I used this: http://www.jonathan.it/accessori/elettrici/termor... (make a hole for the lens, before heating).

Weight, Current, Voltage:

  • 6.6g
  • 0.18A @ 3.3V

That's all, bye.
