This moccasin shoes are easy to make, It took me about 2 hours to make them.

WHAT YOU NEED

DSC_0001.JPG

You need:

-scraps leather;

-leather strings (I did them myself from a scrap piece of leather);

-paper or cardboard;

-pencil;

-scissors;

-leather glue;

-leather holes punch (a smaller and a bigger size);

-big needle.

THE SHAPES

These are the shapes that you need to cut in the leather.

If you print the ones in the first photo you will have a pair of moccasins size 36,5 (6 to 6.5 US woman size).

Match the 20 cm bar with real 20 cm. For every european size up you add about o.5 cm on the length.

Cut the shapes in a piece of cardboard or hard paper.

CUT THE LEATHER

Cut the leather different pieces.

Remember to cut them half in one direction and half overturned (left and right shoes).

POKE HOLES

Poke the holes with the smaller leather punch where the pattern require them.

START SEWING

Sew the smaller leather shape to the bigger one with the leather string, like in the photo.

Start in the first hole of the bottom part, leaving a knot on the outside, then start sewing only from the second hole.

(the bigger part have 2 extra holes). End on the other side in the same way.

THE BACK

Cut a small rectangle of leather, wide 2 cm and long like A.

Spread leather glue all over the back of it, join A with A and glue the small leather square in the inside part of the shoes.

SEW THE BACK

Now pull up the flap, make some holes in the back part of the shoes (matching the one of the flap).

Sew like in the photo with a piece of leather string, leaving two knot in the bottom outside part of the shoes.

THE SIDES

Spread the glue allover the long strip of leather, glue it to the shoes like in the photo, half inside and half outside of the edges, with the holes in the outside part.

ADD THE LACE

Poke more holes with the bigger size leather punch (they need to be bigger because the lace need to be able to move inside of them, to tighten the shoes) in the inside edge of the shoes, corresponding to the one that were already in the strip. Also make two extra holes just when the strip finish.

Add the lace, starting from the hole in the middle of the front part, going through the strip, and then going outside on the other hole in the front part.

Than you can tie a bow knot.

DO THE OTHER ONE

Do the other one and you are done!

★ I like how they come out, but I need to say that the next pair I will do, I will do it a tiny bit different.

I will make the long leather strip longer, with two extra holes, so that the strip will arrive closer to the front part holes.

★ The soles part of the shoes is quite thin, so they are good like house or beach shoes, but if you like to wear them outside you can add an insole, and glue a piece of thicker leather to the bottom like a sole (with proper leather glue).
