DIY Envelope
Not everyone has boxes of envelopes laying around. When you can't find one, make one. This envelope is incredibly easy to make and uses We R Memory Keeper's Envelope Punch Board, allowing you to customize your envelope.
Supplies and Materials
Supplies and Materials:
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Glue Stick
- Paper (of any color)
- Ruler
- the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board
Cut the Paper
If you are making an envelope for something specific, measure the size of the thing you want to put in the envelope. Add an 1/8 of an inch on each side before looking at the reference guide on the envelope punch board and finding the card/envelope size you need. Look to the right of the card size to find the paper size. Then measure out the size of paper you will need and cut.
I made a standard A-2 envelope, which is 4 1/2 inches by 5 1/5 inches. This calls for the paper to be 8 1/8 inches by 8 1/2 inches (the paper will always be square).
Score and Punch
Line up the edge of your paper with the mark the reference guide states as the "score line". Using the bone folder the punch board comes with, score the paper along the indented line. Push down on the large blue button and turn your paper so that the pointer on the button's base is lined up with the line you just scored. Score again, punch again, and repeat until you have 4 punches and 4 scored lines as shown in the last image above.
Round the Edges
Turn the punch board around so that the back of the blue button is facing you. Then insert each tip of the paper into the puncher and push down on the button. This will give your envelope clean, rounded edges.
Glue and Finish
The last thing you need to do is fold in each edge and apply glue to the bottom edges of two opposite sides (as shown above). Then fold the bottom flap up and press down to ensure the sides are glued properly.
Stick a card into your envelope and send it off!
