You are going to need grey paint (or black and white paint), paint brushes, styrofoam insulation panels(I got mine from Home Depot), and a soldering iron.

Draw Outline & Words

The styrofoam panels I got are 2’ by 4’ by 1” (I made two gravestones out of each panel). You want to draw two outlines of a gravestone on a panel with a pencil. Then write the words you want on your gravestones, for example Barry D. Alive.

Engrave the Gravestones

You are going to want to do this step in a well ventilated area, I did it outside. Plug in the soldering iron and wait for it to warm up. Then you want to trace the words with it, make sure you don’t go all the way through the styrofoam (It is like a hot knife through butter).

Paint the Words

You are going to need to paint the inside of the engraved letters with black paint.

Paint the Gravestone completely with grey paint. There are no limits on how you decide to paint your gravestones, I did a weathered look by not completely mixing the paints together(so there was streaks of black and white and grey in the paint).

Let Them Dry

The title is pretty self explanatory, just let them dry.

Display Them

In order for them to stand up there are two different approaches:
1) You can get slabs of wood and attach them to the bottom of your gravestones. Then you clear away the rocks of where you want to display them, set them down, then recover them with the rocks.

2) You can get rebar wire and hammer that into the ground and then attach it to the gravestone.

Then enjoy! These will certainly catch many people’s eye and give them a laugh or two.
