DIY Corkscrew

I Made a Corkscrew

In this tutorial, you will see how easily you can make a DIY corkscrew. all you need is two M8 bolts, one M8 coupling nut, one long screw and some woods for the handles.

Connecting the Main Parts

I started by drilling a hole in the middle of the coupling nut. Then inserted the long screw into this hole. I ground the screw's head with a grinding wheel so it would nice and smooth. One trick that I used here was to grind both sides of the screw a flat spot, exactly where the bottom of to bolts meet the screw inside the coupling nut.

Adding the Wooden Handles

I cut two pieces of round wood and drilled a hole through them. then mount each piece to drill press and used some sandpaper to create these nice curves so it would feel comfortable while holding. In the end I did another round of fine sandpaper and there you go, it is looking beautiful.

I have to say it worked very well, my only concern at this point was the sharp edges of the screw, so be careful with those.
