Customizeable Breakfast Bread Boats
These bad boys are phenomenal -- A sure crowd pleaser and beautiful way to enjoy breakfast or brunch! Fully customizable with your choice of fillings, so each member of the family can have their own.
Make it even faster by using premade pizza dough instead of making your own, or follow the recipe here for the from-scratch version. Dough can also be made the night before and allowed to rise in the fridge overnight.

Prepare the Yeast Mixture
Combine the milk and water and heat until just warm. If the mixture is too hot, it will kill the yeast. Too cold and it will not rise as we want it to.
It should feel just warm to the touch.
Sprinkle the yeast over the water and milk mixture and set aside to activate and become foamy.

Combine the flour, sugar, salt in a large bowl.
This recipe will be doing a lot of kneading, so a stand mixer is recommended.

Combine the Wet and Dry
When the yeast mixture is slightly foamy, add it to the dry mixture. Mix on level 2 or 3 using a dough hook. Continue kneading dough until it becomes smooth and slightly elastic, as shown in photos.
Allow to Rise
Grease a clean bowl using 1 Tablespoon olive oil and place the dough inside.
Allow dough to rise until about double in size. I like to mix the dough up the night before and allow to rise in the fridge overnight. If you're mixing it all together in the morning (you have more energy than me!) It will take an hour or so at room temperature.

Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 450° f (232° c)
Divide the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 4 pieces.
Roll Out
Roll the dough out to about 8"-9" (20-22 cm) circles. They dont have to be perfectly round.
Flour the rolling surface and rolling pin to prevent sticking.

Shape the Boats
Create a boat shape by rolling up the edges of each circle into an oblong oval shape. Pinch or twist the corners to keep the boat from unrolling.
Fill the Boats
Fill with your choice of toppings. These were filled with scrambled eggs, cooked chorizo, feta, cheddar, parmesan, a runny egg, and chives.
Play around with your favorites!
To achieve the runny egg, be sure to serve immediately after removing from heat; as the egg continues to cook in the hot cheeses

Egg Wash (optional)
Create an egg wash by mixing 1 egg and 1 Tablespoon water.
Spread the wash over the exposed pieces of dough to create a beautiful shine.

Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 450° F (232° c) for about 15 minutes, until bread is golden brown and egg is runny (if using runny egg as filling). Serve immediately as egg continues cooking in the hot cheeses.
