Customize Laptop/Study Table
Before anything else, I'm Christian Abracia, and I'm studying at Southern Luzon State University in the Philippines. Moving in dormitory is really hard, and the first thing I've gotten a problem about is the limited space we're given. With the aforementioned, we can't just bring in things, specially big ones, and cramp ourselves in our tiny room. But I need a table I could write on. So, I need to design a table that wouldn't take too much of our little space --- a foldable one!
Inspiration
Back home, I have a foldable table that greatly helps me whenever I have to study all night in my bed. The problem is it's barely one foot tall, and this causes me back pains at times. Not to mention it's only 50 cm × 20 cm, and it couldn't hold a lot of stuff. This design of mine would make up for that. The stand of this foldable table of mine is inspired by a foldable drying rack. Yes, you read it right - - a drying rack. Now we don't have to worry about having back pains anymore, because it is high as 1.77 foot. I also equip it with lamp so darkness wouldn't be a problem at night anymore.
TABLE TOP and DRAWER
Buy a 1100 cm2 plywood (oak). Cut a 609 mm × 609 mm from it, that would be our table top.
LEGS
The legs are stainless steel. Sometimes you can buy a ready-go stand in hardwares, but you can also do it at home. The legs are 549.08 mm long, and you just need to join so it would appear like a pair of wedges in a cross shape which pivot around a fulcrum.
Laptop Stand
For the Laptop Stand, you just need a () mm . Attach hinges on the front side of the plywood and on the main desk, so it would be movable. Next, attach a rectangular (100 mm long) stainless steel beneath the plywood that would act as the stand for the Laptop Stand. Attach metal with teeth-like structure on the main desk that would act as the stopper; it would determine the height you want for your Laptop Stand.
Coffee Holder
For the Coffee Holder, you just need to cut a hole with 7 mm diameter in the right side of the table top using CNC machine.
Lamp
For the lamp, you can buy 1606K751_Gooseneck-Arm Spot Workstation Light\ on the store and you can attach it later on the table top.
Assembling
Assemble all the parts. First, for the laptop stand to be fully functional, you can buy 32 pieces of 90258A121_Phillips Oval Head Screws, 6 pieces of 1603A3_Surface-Mount Hinge with Holes. Drill it to connect it to the table top. For the legs of the table, buy 2 pieces of 91287A331_18-8 Stainless Steel Hex Head Screw and to hold the screws in the legs buy 2 pieces of 93510A115_Left-Hand Threaded 18-8 Stainless Steel Hex Nut.
