Curling/Creating Wavy Hair

I hope that the following steps below helps you get the wavy hair you want. Tip: Everyone's hair is different by it's thickness. The thicker the hair, the longer it takes to keep it on the curling iron.

Make sure you have the following supplies ready before you begin. Plug in the curling iron to the wall, and flip the switch on it. You will need to wait at least 10 minutes for it to heat up.

Prepare the Hair

Make sure your hair is clean beforehand and have it down if it is in any bun or pony tail. Make sure you do not put in any hair products prior.

Mirror Mirror and the Brush

Brush your hair until it is straight enough and part it to whichever side you want. You should have a mirror on you or use the bathroom mirror during this step.

Tie Hair

Get a hair tie and tie one side up so that it does not interfere with the other side you have down when you begin using the curling iron.

Feelin Hot Hot Hot!!!

Check the curling iron to see if it is hot enough by putting your hand close to the iron, feeling for any heat. Do not touch the iron or you will burn your hand! If the iron is warm then it is ready for use.

Left, Right, and Curl

Before you grab the curling iron, make sure you choose a side of hair to start with. If you chose the right side then you will need to put the curling iron in your left hand. If you chose the left side, then you need to put the curling iron in the right hand. Last, grab the end of the handle that is safe to touch and with your other hand grab a small section of your hair and wrap it around the curling iron tightly.

Is Something Burning?

Once your hair is wrapped around your curling iron tight, continue to hold your hair in that position for at least 20 seconds. Fair warning do not get the iron too close to your head or you could burn yourself and do not hold it more than 20 seconds or you could fry your hair.

Cool Down Time!

After you have counted to 20 seconds, let go of your hair slowly and let it hang loose on your face for a few seconds so that it can cool down.

Repeat

Once the small section of hair has cooled off, repeat every step until you have finished curling the whole side of your head.

Run Your Fingers Through Hair

When you have finished curling that side, gently run your fingers through the curls once or twice to bring out all the layers.

Hairspray

Once the layers are brought out, get the hairspray and give a little distance between your hair and the spray so that you do not overly drown your hair. You may have to spray it a few times to make sure the hair stays in its position.

Options

After you have sprayed your hair down, take out your hair tie on the other side of your head. (Optional: You can use your hair tie and tie your curled hair to keep it from interfering with your unfinished side. If you do this, make sure you tie it very loose but tight enough to hold it in place)

Here We Go Again

To finish the side of hair untouched, repeat all of the steps provided above.

Complete

Once your hair is completely finished, make sure you take out your hair tie and check yourself in the mirror. If you need to touch up some areas of your hair, use the mirror to help yourself locate which areas that need to be resprayed or even curled again.

Enjoy!!!
