Many Cub Scout Day Camp / Resident Camps recommend to campers and staff to bring buckets for seating and craft storage. This tutorial is designed to walk you through how to create your own 16 bucket transportation rack for your garden wagon.

Supplies

To build the PVC bucket rack, you will need the following supplies:

(Qty)  Item:
(1)     Tape Measure
(1)     Marker capable of writing on PVC (sharpie works well)
(1)     Can of PVC Solvent (purple cleaner)
(1)     Can of PVC Glue
(1)     Ratcheting PVC cutter capable of cutting 1" pipe (hand cutter or hacksaw)
(3)     10 foot lengths of 1" Schedule 40 PVC pipe (or 4x 8 foot pieces)
(19)   90 degree elbows (slip)
(20)   Slip T's (do not get threaded anything)

(1)     Garden Wagon

***NOTE*** - Anywhere it says to glue a joint, please remember to use the purple pipe solvent first to remove any oils that would cause the PVC to not work as well.

My preference when building projects is to always have a little bit of extra on hand in case you want to change the design or mess up a step. Getting extra pipe and fittings will allow you to get creative with your design if you desire.

Measure, cut, and assemble the base.

To do so you will need to measure and cut:

2 lengths of 1" PVC at 44 1/2" (this will differ by wagon length)
4 lengths of 26" PVC (the picture shows 24 3/4" but in order to accommodate 5 gallon water jugs, you will need to extend this to 26")
2 lengths of 8 1/2" PVC
4 lengths of 4 1/2" PVC (this will differ by wagon width)
4 elbows
4 T's

Assemble as show in the photographs. You may glue the base sections together if you wish, but it is not necessary to function properly.

5 lengths of 1" PVC at 4 1/2"
2 lengths of 1" PVC at 2 3/4"
1 length of 1" PVC at 6 1/2"
5 elbows (or 4 elbows and one cap if you wish)
10 T's

Assemble as show in the photographs. You will need to glue the cross brace sections together, but do not glue the outriggers to the cross braces Refer to each photograph for additional details.

2 lengths of 1" PVC at 11 3/4"
10 elbows (or 4 elbows and one cap if you wish)
