I have two cookie jars in my kitchen. They both had a white plastic washer to secure their lid. But in one jar this washer progressively shrunk, snapped and fell off. Now its cookies get spoiled by humidity in the air.

Rubber Seal

I was sick of spoiled cookies and decided to fix this.

The material for the job is called rubber seal and you can see it in the picture. It is self adhesive.

You will also need scissors.

Prepare the Lid

If you have a similar lid to be fixed, the process is very simple.

Just encircle the lid from the inside.

Do it slowly, removing the yellow tape as you advance.

Once you have completed a full circle, cut the remaining rubber seal with scissors.

Take your time and press the seal with your thumb to glue it well.

No More Stale Cookies!

Once finished test the lid's fit to the jar. Mine fit snugly.

Now open the lid again and grab a cookie. It's yours, you deserve it!
