With Coachella happening recently, I wanted to create a festival outfit that someone could wear to the concerts. I made a self-lacing corset top and a matching light up belt to go over a skirt that I made as well. I used capacitive touch to make the corset tighten and loosen, as well as touch to light up the belt. I also made a pattern for the skirt and the shirt. Enjoy!

Supplies

DIY CORSET TUTORIAL + Free Pattern (ft. Phalopha) | Jeans, Pants and Bags | Villamor Twins

Use a pattern or make a pattern (I modified the pattern from the youtube video above) to cut out fabric

Tips:

  • Make sure the pattern is on the fold
  • Cut out using some seam allowance

Sew Corset Top Together

Use the youtube video attached above to sew the top together

Add Grommets

Just lace it up like a shoelace!

Make Skirt

Measure an elastic waist belt to your waist size and sew fabric to it

Tips:

  • I measured the material so it went just past my knees
  • I hemmed the ends and sewed a slit down one of the sides

Make Belt

Use a strip of fabric to make a tube then add grommets to the tube

Tips:

  • Place grommets equidistance from each other

Hot Glue Light Strip to Belt

Wire servos to GP14 and GP15 and wire LED to GP16 (on the Raspberry Pi)

Tips:

  • Pico wiring for I2C is power to 3.3v, Blue to GP4 (SDA), Yellow to GP5 (SCL)

I used a body form as an example of how someone would attach the parts to a person
