Chicken Lollipops - Grilled Chicken Legs
Are you wanting to wow your family or friends with some tasty chicken appetizers? These are sure to impress! There isn't anything too fancy here, just some good knife work, bacon, and a sweet glaze.
Supplies
Chicken Legs
Thick Cut Bacon
Sweet Chili Sauce
Toothpicks
Prepare the Chicken Leg...
This can be time consuming, but not bad with a nice sharp knife. Remove the skin and cut the tendons and thin areas of meat from the leg. The clean leg bone will impress everyone!
Wrap the Leg in Bacon...
Wrap the leg in thick cut bacon. Use toothpicks to tack the bacon to the leg meat on each end.
Put Them on the Grill...
Place them on the grill on indirect heat. I put these on my pellet grill set to 300 degrees and grilled them for about 45 minutes. Low heat for a longer period of time helps them stay tender.
Add the Glaze...
You can use any sweet flavored sauce you like. I like sweet chili sauce, but am not particular about brands. This one just happened to be on sale. Now that the chicken and bacon are nearly cooked, take each piece off the grill and dip it in the sauce. Return each piece to the grill. Allow it to grill for at least another 20 minutes to thicken up the glaze and allow it to become super sticky.
Time to Eat!...
Remove the legs from the grill and place them in a bowl with the leg bone up for easy handling! The sweet flavor from the chili sauce, the savory flavor of the bacon, and a chicken leg all make for one tasty bite! Enjoy!
