Cheerio Ant Feeder

In this instructable, you will be assembling a feeder for ants. The cost to operate this feeder is much more economical than most other ant feeders you will find on this site. I hope you will enjoy the many pleasures of feeding ants.

What You'll Need:

  • a Cheerio (you will need to acquire an entire box of Cheerios from your local supplier)

Selecting Your Cheerio

Selecting the right Cheerio for your ant feeder is surprisingly simple.

  1. Reach at least one hand into the box of Cheerios. Using your fingers, gently remove one Cheerio from the box.

Hint: Honey Nut variety works very well.

Constructing the Feeder

To construct your feeder, first double check that you have gathered all necessary components from the list below:

  • an individual Cheerio

If you find that you have forgotten any of the parts you will be needing, this would be a good time to go back and collect them.

If you have everything, great! and let's go!...

The construction of the ant feeder is very straight forward. However, if at any point you feel the parts aren't quite going together correctly immediately stop. The components you are using are very delicate and could be rendered unusable if damaged.

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Place your Cheerio on a floor. Your kitchen will probably be the best floor to choose for this step. If you don't have a kitchen, a driveway sometimes works well.

Over the past one day, I have received much feedback suggesting that this feeder may function at a higher feeding effectiveness if you were to utilize 2 Cheerios. (see photo) However, please keep in mind this will double the cost of operation.
