Carnelian Gem Earrings
These are beatiful carnelian gem earrings. I actually didn't know these were carelian crystal beeds until after I bought them. I just love the color orange, and I've made a couple other orange-colored earrings before, but these have to be my favorite!
Supplies
Jewelry pliers
Wire cutters
Needle nose pliers [ I forget to put them in the picture ]
2 crimp beads
2 earring posts
Carnelian gem beads
Wire, 1 long strand [ about 10 inch long, or 8 to 8/12 inch depending on how big you want the wire hoops to be. I made mine 10 inch. ]
Measuring and Cutting the Wire
Mesure out one strand that's about 10 or 8/12 inches of wire , then equally fold the wire in half. If you're struggling to get a decent circle, you can always wrap the wire around something circular, like a salt or pepper shaker. :)
Use the wire cutters and place them right in the middle of the bent wire and cut.
Take one of the wire pieces you cut and bend it into a circle like the last picture [ 2x ].
Beading
Put on the carnelian gems until there's only about half an inch of wire showing on both wire circles.
Take one crimp bead and put it on one of the ends of the circle, then put the other end of the circle through the crimp bead [ 2nd picture ] But make sure there's extra wire hanging off through the crimp bead, with both ends of the circle.
Use the pliers and press down as hard as you can on the crimp bead. Make sure the wire can't break through the crimp bead.
Cut off any remaining wire that's hanging over the flattened crimp bead.
Applying the Earring Posts
Open the end of the earring posts using the needle nose pliers, and put it on the wire circle right by the crimp bead.
Close the earring posts once they're on the wire circle.
Done!
You are finished!!!
