I made Valentines cards. This was a project I made with my grandkids. The cards can be used for other occasions as well, I just made them pertain to Valentine's Day. I include the Elephant, the Clown and Cup cards, again, they all pertain to Valentine's Day.

Supplies

You will need:

  1. piece of construction paper, color of your choice
  2. pencil
  3. ruler
  4. colored pencils, pens, crayons, or markers
  5. 2 paper clips (optional, but recommended but not shown in supply list)

Preparing the Card

  1. Fold the piece of paper in half, making a card.
  2. next take just the top piece of folded paper and fold it backwards onto itself where it measures about 2 1/2 inches.
  3. press down on creases well.
  4. now pencil in a heart so that half of the heart is on the top of folded back piece on left and the other half is on the top of the bottom piece of paper.

Open the Card

  1. Open the card and you should have half of the heart near far-right edge of paper and the other half near far left edge of paper.
  2. Now you decide which card you want to do, the elephant, clown or cup, or your own idea if you prefer.

Draw and Color

  1. when you decided which card you want to do begin sketching your idea in between the heart halves.
  2. be sure to keep your lines in between the top folded back piece (left half of heart) and the start of right half of heart on right side of page.
  3. color in or add some color to your drawing.

Add a Quote

  1. now fold the card again so you only see the big heart in the middle and add the words you would like shown on card cover.
  2. open card and add words, if any, to inside of the card.
  3. If you have chosen to use paper clip or paperclips, attach one at the top and one at the bottom to keep card folded so only large heart is showing. When ready to view inside of card just slide clips off.
