Cardboard Washers Board

washers-supplies.jpg

Washers is a easy and fun game that all ages can play. This is a easy way to make and set up the game from a cardboard box. This will allow for less time wasted on the build and more time on spending time and having fun with family and friends.

For those who don't know how to play, the idea of the game to toss your washers into the box and the little circle, which will give a certain number of points. For example, I play for getting in just in the box earns you 1 point and getting it in the circle gives you 3 points. The goal of the game is to get to 21 points. Each player gets 3 washers and your game's two players take turns.

With these steps and game instructions, you will have a great game to play with your loved ones.

Supplies

For this build you need only some simple things you'll most likely find around your house. You'll need:

  • A glue gun with glue sticks
  • 10 1/2 in by 8 1/4 in cardboard box, the height doesn't matter
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • 2 pieces of paper
  • Colored pencils
  • Washers
  • (Optional) Glue stick

Cutting the Box

In your first step, you'll need to cut the tabs off your cardboard box. This is probably the only step you'll need your scissors for. You will want to cut the the tabs off as evenly as possible, not for the the box, but for the purpose of the tabs. I say this because we'll use the tabs next.

Next will be a little more tough. You need to take one of the tabs, the shorter way (pointing left and right), and put it up against the cut box. Then you will trace the height of the tab on the box, making a line all around the box (see the pictures to help). Now you're going to cut the box on the line. It should be evenly cut, but don't worry about it too much. This one of the more difficult parts of the project.

Glueing Paper to the Bottom

For this step, you'll need your piece of paper, hot glue gun, and the glue sticks. We'll be glueing one of the pieces of paper on to the bottom of the box to flatten the box and lessen the amount of brown you see. First of all, you need to cut the piece of paper to fit in the box. So, you'll need to cut it 9 3/4 long and 7 13/16 inches wide. You'll need to cut the paper differently from the box because if you were to cut the same dimensions as the box, the paper wouldn't fit. To glue this down, you'll need a glue stick or a glue gun. I chose to use a glue stick just because it so much quicker and does the same as the glue gun.

Making the Inside Circle

This is where your tabs will used again. You will need of your tabs, a long one and a short. First, you will hot glue one side of the tabs together. You want to them pointing left to right, so its the same height of the box. Now you're going to try to fold the combined tabs the best you can. Its okay if you can't it to stay perfect, the next step will help that. For the next step you're going to hot glue the circled tabs to the box. You want to glue the circle in the middle of the box. After you get it on and the glue cools, try to clean up the glue the bet you can. Try to remove the glue strings it may leave.

(Optional) Coloring the Washers

This is very simple, not very necessary step. In this step, you're going to put color on your washers to try to separate them for your opponent's. First, use a washer to trace six washer shapes on your other piece of paper. Next, cut out these shapes out and color them. You will need three one color and the other three another color. Then, hot glue these cutouts on to your washers. You should now have three washers in one color and three washers in another color.

Hopefully this was a simple and easy project for you. As you can see, it was very a quick build to do. I hope you have fun with your new washers board
