Cardboard Shoe Rack
I made a shoe rack to organize all my sneakers and boots with just cardboard, no glue.
Supplies
- Lots of long pieces of cardboard!
- Ruler
- Pencil or pen
- Cutter
- Cutting mat
- (Optional) a piece of paper or sketchbook to draw.
Count Your Shoes
In order to start with the design of your shoe rack, you need to count every single pair of shoes you have, this is including sandals, slippers, boots, sneakers, etc.
For this shoe rack I counted 40 total.
Now, knowing how many shoes you wanna fit in the rack, measure the space you're gonna put it.
Measure Your Shoes
Take your widest shoe and measure it long, wide and tall.
For this rack (I use shoes 6W), the numbers are:
- Long: 30cm
- Wide: 12cm
- Tall: 15cm
Start With Design
Based on the number of shoes there are, the measurements of your shoes, and the amount of space you have in your closet to put it, start drawing the rack as a grid.
This step you can do it whatever you want, as tall or wide as you want it! Let your imagination begin...
Draw the Pieces
Based on the grid you drew, and considering this kind of assembly, draw every piece of the rack you need.
For this rack I will need 7 exact same horizontal pieces and 8 exact same vertical pieces.
Cut
Based on the measurements of the pieces, draw every piece in the cardboard, and start cutting with the cutter and cutting mat.
Assemble
For this last step, gather every piece you just cut and start assembling them.
I recommend you start with the lowest piece and assemble from bottom to top, this way is gonna be easier.
