Card Box!

Do you have lots of small nick-nacks and trinkets you don't quite know what to do with? Well, have I got a product for you! This item is a simple-to-make DIY Card Box!

This item can be made in just a few EASY steps! And all you need is 18 (and an optional 3 more) Playing cards!

Now if you're a huge fan of Pokémon like myself, then chances are you have a few repeats pokémon cards lying around that no one wants to trade and aren't valuable enough to sell. Well it's time to put those bad boys to good use!

18-21 playing cards (That's literally it!)

This is the most important step in the process and it's also the easiest!

All you have to do is fold the TOP and the BOTTOM of the card backward! You don't have to measure it or anything, just eye-ball it. It shouldn't be more than half a centimeter. The image shows how the card will look from the front (left) and how it looks from the back (right).

NOTE: Do this to TEN (cards)

Nifty tip: I used the Pokémon "Water-Energy" cards so I can put Pokémon of that type in the box when it's done! Great for the organization!

This step can take a bit of practice to master. In the first picture, you'll notice that I've placed one of the cards between the two flaps that we just folded in step one. Now on the second picture, I have folded the flaps that are on the bottom card on top of the flap of the card that is standing up. I am putting the flap of the standing card between the two flaps of the laying-down card. The third picture shows how the cards will look after you bend the standing card. Now, see that flap on the left side of the third picture (it looks like a hook)? We have to tuck that under the bottom card's flaps. This is exactly the same thing we just did, just on the other said of the cards. The last picture shows what it's supposed to look like when it's finished. I will be referring to these cards as "Fused" cards for the rest of the tutorial!

NOTE! You have to make FIVE (5) of these. A sixth one is optional.

This step is easy: Take EIGHT (8) cards and just fold them in half like shown in the first picture. These eight cards should have the shape of a laptop when folded. The second image shows you how you have to place the folded card into the "fused" cards we just made. Keep in mind that I am using the Yellow card just to distinguish between colors. As you see on the blue card, the yellow card is being slid in through the right side. You should also slip in a card through the left side.

On the third picture, is how your cards should look like. The "fused" card is in the back and the two hinges are on either side. (Excuse the change in color and orientation). What you are looking at on picture three is the inside of the box.

NOTE! You have to make TWO (2) of these.

Almost done! In the first picture, you'll see the two hinges we've made from step 3. But how do we put them together? It's very simple: Take another one of your "fused" cards and insert the hinges from the previous step on either side. This is demonstrated in the second picture. In the center-back, you'll see the "fused card", on both its right and left side, you'll see the hinges. You're going to do this to the other side to and you'll end up with something that looks like what's on picture three.

Great job getting this far! But your box still needs a base, or else all your stuff would fall out (bad). All you have to do now is grab the last "fused" card that you have left. Now, as seen on image 1, place the four left-over hinges from step 3 facing upwards. Image one shows how it looks like from the inside with only two hinges. Image two shows how it looks from the outside with the four hinges.

On the top of the first image are the walls of the box, you finished in step four. On the bottom, you'll see the base you just made in step 5. Now, this part can be tricky, you have to slide each of the hinges into the bottom-slots of the walls. Now like on image two, slide the walls down onto the base. And voila! Your box is done! (Next step is optional).

If you would like to make a lid for your box then this is where the three optional cards come in. Use two of them to make a "fused" card and the last one to make a hinge. Insert the hinge on any of the walls on the top side of your box and presto! You have a lid!
