I chose to do candy cane chocolate chip cookies because we make them every year on Christmas Eve. It is one of my favorite traditions of all time. They are always a family favorite and they are definitely my favorite type of cookies.

First, pour 3 cups of flour into a mixing bowl. Then, pour in 1 cup of white sugar. Next, pour in 1 cup of brown sugar (make sure it's packed). Finally, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to your mixture. Stir that up until all the ingredients are blended together.

Add Your Wet Ingredients

Grab 1 cup of butter and soften it in the microwave with a microwave safe bowl. This will take about 30 seconds. While that's heating, crack 2 eggs and put them into the large bowl. When your butter is soft (but not melted), add it to your mixture. Next, add 2 tablespoons of hot water to your bowl. Then, add two teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix the ingredients until they are blended together. Make adjustments as needed. Finally, add half a bag of chocolate chips of your preference.

Get Ready to Bake

Get a tablespoon and start scooping! Make tablespoon sized balls and place them onto a non stick baking sheet. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Once your oven is hot, place your cookies in to bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cookies' edges are nicely browned.

Candy Canes!

While your cookies are in the oven, unwrap a box of candy canes. Place the candy canes in a gallon bag. Once you are ready, start crushing the candy canes with a spoon. The chunks can be as big or small as you please. When the cookies are about done, take them out and sprinkle some candy cane on the top of each cookie. Then, put the cookies back in the over for a minute or two, so that the candy canes can melt a little.

Enjoy!
