CHRISTMAS CANDY BOXES

This is such a fun project

Personalize your Christmas gifts by covering little (or big) lidded boxes with Christmas fabrics and decorating the lids with ribbons, roses, bells and holly sprigs.

Fill them with yummy Christmas candies for a tasty and sweet treat for the special someones in your life

YOU WILL NEED

A selection of lidded cardboard boxes

White Gesso

Light sandpaper - 240

Paint brushes

White acrylic paint

Tacky glue

Fabric scissors

Small dish to mix , Gesso, paint and tacky glue with water

A selection of Christmas ribbons, ribbon roses, holly stems, little bells etc

A variety of Christmas candy

PAINTING THE BOX

This step is only necessary if the box has a color or pattern that can be seen through the fabric you are using to cover it.

Coat the box with Gesso and when dry give it a light sand before applying the white acrylic paint

Allow to dry thoroughly before the next step

PREPARING THE FABRIC

Coat the box sides, base and inside edges with the tacky glue mixed with a little water.

Place onto the fabric and cut to fit

KEEP IT NEAT

Trim away the excess fabric to make neat and tidy edges around the box base

Apply extra glue where necessary

COVER THE LID

Repeat with the lid, tidying any stray threads with sharp scissors

COVER ALL YOUR BOXES

Allow the glue to dry before the next step
