We all are know about centrifugal principle and some of their applications.I always like centrifugal machines.

In this instructable I will show you,How to make a radial impeller centrifugal blower/fan just from recycled paper packaging box and normal paper.Hope it is very easy to make

MATERIALS NEEDED

P_20190331_065123.jpg
  1. RECYCLED PAPER PACKAGING BOX(paper board)
  2. NORMAL PAPER
  3. HIGH SPEED DC MOTOR
  4. POWER ADAPTER
  5. DVD MOUNTER(OBTAINED FROM OLD DVD PLAYER)
  6. SCISSOR
  7. BLADE OR PAPER KNIFE
  8. GLUE
  9. HOT MELT GLUE GUN (OPTIONAL)
  10. PENCIL
  11. NEEDLE (FOR PUNCHING)

CONSTRUCTION OF POWERFUL BLOWER

I uploaded drawing with detailed dimensions.you can also make your own dimension

Draw all the diagrams of parts in paper and also in paperboard

PUNCH THE OUTLINE WITH NEEDLE

Punch the edges of the drawings with the needle. It makes the work easy to cut out the pieces separately

CUT DOWN THE PARTS

Using blade or paper knife cut the pieces separately using the punched holes.take care of your hand while using blade.sand the edges of the parts with sanding paper .Place the pieces under a weight If the pieces have any bend on it.

ASSEMBLE THE IMPELLER

In the main diagram you will see the impeller consists of two circles and 8 radial vanes. One circle has a small hole for fitting impeller with the DVD mounter and also with the motor. Another one circle has relatively large hole for inlet.

divide the circles into 8 equal sections( i.e. 45 degree) and also draw the section lines with pencil on it.

In the vanes a small chamfer about 2 mm is given

After that glue the vanes over any one of the circle's section line straightly.

After put glue on the section lines of another circle and put together the two pieces of the impeller.

If it wasn't fit correctly place a small weight over it. be careful to balance the weight otherwise the impeller will collapse.

Leave it to dry.

FIT THE DVD MOUNTER TO THE IMPELLER

Fit the impeller and the DVD mounter together with glue.

it is used to fit the impeller to motor shaft.

FITTING THE SPACER

Take one part of the volute casing and make a small hole in the center to enable the motor shaft to come.

Put the spacer between the volute casing and the impeller and put some strong glue to fit it rigidly.

Leave it to fit together.

MAKE INLET IN VOLUTE CASING

There is another one piece of volute,in this piece make a small hole to the same dimension as of the hole in the impeller inlet.minor changes can be acceptable.

CUT a PIECE OF PAPER FOR CASING

Cut a thick piece of paper or glue together two or three thin papers to the following dimension 3.5 cm x 33 cm.

you can cut it on your own dimension.

ASSEMBLE THE PARTS

CENTRIFUGAL BLOWER MADE FROM PAPER

Fit the impeller to the motor shaft. make sure there is a small gap between the impeller and the casing .

glue the edges of the volute casing and fit the paper casing over it. after it partially fixed , glue the another one piece of the volute and fit the whole assembly together.

you will see a centrifugal blower.

NOTE: some times the impeller will separate from the the motor shaft due to centrifugal force.put some strong glue for rigidly fixing the both together.
