Butterfly Baby Shower Cards

For my card club this month, we needed to make a winged creature card. I made these Butterfly cards for my partner. I imagine they would be used as baby shower cards. This is how:

For my card club this month, we needed to make a winged creature card. I made these Butterfly cards for my partner. I imagine they would be used as baby shower cards. This is how:
- I found an image of a butterfly off Google and printed it onto white card stock. (A few times to not waste paper.)
- For the boy I used blue green and silver, for the girl I used purple, light pink, and dark pink glitter glue (or stickles) and filled in the wings of the butterfly as if I was coloring or painting. Then I used yellow for the boy body and green for the girl body and let them dry.
- Once dried, I used an exacto knife and cut around the now hardened glitter glue and got the butterfly shape.
- I then edged the butterfly with clear glitter glue and let it dry once more.
- While drying, I created the card front.
- I printed the butterfly poem: Butterfly in the Wind on colored card stock. (Blue for boy and Purple for Girl) **Make sure that the poem is shorter than 3 1/2" tall and thinner than 4 1/4" wide.
- Cut one pattern paper to 4 1/4" X 3 1/2"
- Cut the other pattern paper to 4 1/4" X 1 1/4" (so that there is a little overlap)
- Cut the poem to 3 3/4" (Adjusted to fit your font if needed) X 3 1/2"
- Paste together. The strip that is 1 1/4" tall should have its top at the 1" from the top of the paper.
- The strip that is 3 1/2" tall should start at the bottom and go up. They should overlap.
- The quote should be centered on the bottom and meet the top of the bottom patterned paper.
- The butterfly edge should be dried so we can do the inside of the card now:
- I took apart a clicky pen and took out the spring. I cut the spring in half for two butterflies each.
- I put a glue dot on the card and a glue dot on the top of the spring.
- Finally I put the butterfly on the spring.
Enjoy!
