Crafting the Main Frames of the Nightstand
Using the parts list as your guide, you'll accurately mark the measurements on the wood. Then, employing either an electric saw or a hand saw, you'll meticulously cut each profile.
While this phase may be the longest, rest assured that with ample patience, you'll witness the results gradually taking shape.
Additionally, prioritize your safety throughout this step by wearing gloves and protective glasses to protect yourself.
Now that all the materials have been thoroughly cut and arranged, we're progressing to the assembly phase of the main frames. These frames consist of two 2x2 inch profiles, each measuring 22 inches long. To construct the frame, we'll affix two 1x2 inch profiles, each 15 inches long, at both the top and bottom.
Following this, we'll meticulously mark the placement of the remaining 1x2 inch profiles, also measuring 15 inches long. This step requires utmost caution, as precision is paramount for achieving optimal results.
Once all the markings have been meticulously done, we'll proceed to prepare the 15-inch profiles.
Carefully positioning each profile in its designated spot, we'll then nail them in place. Using a square, we'll ensure precise alignment by transferring measurements from one frame to another. Exercise caution and patience during this stage to ensure a snug fit for each profile.
Subsequently, we'll follow the same procedure for the remaining 15-inch profiles, pre-nailing 1 1/2-inch nails into them. Once all profiles are prepared, it's time to securely nail each one into its designated position.
Remember that if you have any type of doubt about the construction of this project, you can always corroborate the measurements and the construction process in the 3D model that I showed you at the beginning.
Once you've nailed the final profile into place, the end result will resemble this!
Building the Nightstand’s Main Structure
Next, we'll proceed to prepare the 1x2 inch profiles, each measuring 17 inches in length, and we'll repeat the same process of affixing them with their corresponding nails.
Once all the profiles are prepared, we'll attach four 17-inch profiles to both the top and bottom of the frames to establish a sturdy structure.
To fill in any remaining gaps, we'll utilize the 17-inch profiles and secure each one into its designated position.
At this stage, our project begins to take form, and with the preceding profiles in position, the outcome resembles this.
Making the Top Section of Our Nightstand
Now, our focus shifts to preparing the profiles destined for the top section of our nightstand, requiring specialized profiles with 45-degree cuts. We'll need two 24-inch profiles, two 17.25-inch profiles, two 10.75-inch profiles, and two 4.25-inch profiles.
Once the profiles are marked, we'll proceed to cut the angles and then refine any rough edges and excess material with sandpaper.
This step of the process is straightforward: marking and cutting the angles, followed by nailing each profile into place using 1.5-inch nails.
Exercise caution in ensuring even distribution, as the grid should appear symmetrical and uniform. Upon completing this process, the outcome resembles this:
The Electrical Component of the Nightstand
Now, let's shift our attention to the electrical aspect of our project, as it's designed to be illuminated. After securely fastening the ends of our cable, we'll affix the socket onto a 15-inch profile. Subsequently, we'll attach the cable to a rubber contact and then simply nail the 15-inch profile onto the bottom of our main assembly.
The Final Touches of the Nightstand
Next comes the most enjoyable part: applying the finishing touches! Choose the desired shade of varnish and ensure to coat every piece of lumber meticulously for a splendid appearance. Keep in mind that varnish emits a strong odor, so it's advisable to wear a mask during this stage of the process.
