Broomstick
Broomstick for cosplays or decoration, would not recommend this as a cleaning tool.
Supplies
Main supplies:
Sturdy stick about your height
Whittling knife
Sand paper
Straw/Corn whisk/Long grass
Twine
Extra supplies:
Construction paper
Stapler/Staples
Tape
Hot glue/Hot glue sticks
So this is just if you want to add support in the broom, I didn’t like how it flopped down when I held it so I taped and stapled 3 papers of construction paper into a funnel shape and hot glued it inside the straw hot glued the grass too the paper funnel to make it stick.
Get a Stick
Take your stick and carve it however you want same with sanding if you want it smooth, I used 80 grit and 100 grit sand paper, though I didn't carve my stick since I like its marbly pattern.
The Straw
I searched my yard and the internet to no luck with finding anything good for a broom but thankfully I found Long dryish grass outside, so I harvested a bunch of that and sorted through the lengths then tied it at the top for later. This method was mildly irritating but it worked.
Attaching the Straw to the Stick
I got the twine from Michaels, it comes in gold as well, its very bendy and worked well, just make sure its tight. Take your straw and your stick, you might need some extra hands for this. Holding the stick up put the straw around the end of the stick before tightly wrapping the twine around it, I trimmed mine up after doing this so it was more even.
Stabelization
I taped and hot glued construction paper into a funnel and hot glued it into the broom too stabelize it to be appealing.
Decorating
I wanted to put a bow on it and I will get to that but I was running out if time and sewing is not yet my strong suit. You can put beads or jewelry on to decorate your broom stick. This was rushed, I mean literally at the last minute because I've been very busy, still I wanted to participate so apologies for the messy writing.
