Brass Pendant
Now to start off with I am not a jeweller and just decided to try this out and it came out pretty good. These are a fun thing to make with little tooling required. Brass is in expensive to buy and seemed to work well for me. Now that is out the way let’s get onto how I made it.
Supplies
Materials:
Brass
Tools:
200mm flat file
200mm domed file
Set of needle files of various shapes
Decide on What You Want Your Pendant to Be Of
The I method used is fairly universal. I started out by finding an image of what I wanted to do, this would allow me to make a more accurate representation of the actual thing, I started at first without a picture but preferred tracing around a picture of what I was making.
Cut and Stick
Now you want to cut out your picture of choice and glue/attach to the brass so it won’t move around when your working on it I used super glue but most glue that sticks to metal would be fine.
Filing
Start with a bigger more aggressive file to take off the larger areas to give you a general shape of it. Then change to the smaller files for the detail, then go round the edges carefully to take of any burrs with a small file.
Finishing
Now it’s complete you can polish it with either with a rotary tool or by hand.
You could also make an extra loop out of brass for attaching it to a necklace or use a small keyring
